1047 - Creating Texture in Painted Collages |

In this class we will explore many different techniques for creating texture with collage and paint. We will layer acrylic paint over tissue paper, newspaper, rice paper, doilies, cheesecloth, netting, and cardboard; explore various acrylic mediums to use under or over painted and collaged images. Finally you will create your own richly painted and textured work of art! Painting experience not essential.
Supply List:
--Color magazine to tear and cut up
--Your own choice of images (inkjet prints and/or black & white photocopies)
--1” flat nylon brush
--1” flat bristle brush
--box cheap oil pastels (Van Gogh or Cray Pas are fine)
--bottle Golden or Liquitex matte medium
--white tissue paper
--pad Strathmore 9 x 12 in. 140lb cold press watercolor paper
--objects to imprint with: cardboard tube, cork, comb or fork, interesting plastic molds from freezer packs, corrugated cardboard
--heavy-duty paper towel (Costco or Target)
Optional items:
--Embossed wallpaper samples
--Decorative stencils
--Textured fabric (as long as it will take paint)
--Doilies
--Hairdryer
Instructor will provide:
--1oz Golden fluid and heavy body acrylics in 6 colors
--several Golden texture mediums (for example Heavy Gel, Garnet Gel, Light Molding Paste)
--rice paper
--cheesecloth
--½ sheet 140lb watercolor paper for final project
--waterpots
--hairdryers to share
