1052 - Simpatico--the marriage of black and white photography and color

This class will teach you to enhance your images as I guide you through the transformation of hand painting black and white photographs. We’ll start with photographic oil paints and journey through other ways to mix the emulsions on your photographs. We’ll also venture into tips on how to take photographs, altering your photographs and ways to use them in your art.   You’ll learn first hand many of the techniques I used in my book “Mixed Emulsions – Altered Art Techniques for Photographic Imagery”.

A $10 materials fee is payable to instructor on the day of class.

Supply List:
--A variety of black and white photographs (not photocopies). 4x6 to 8x10
--photographic oils (if you have them – if you wish to buy them I suggest Marshalls photo oils available at dickblick.com)
--acrylic paints
--oil sticks
--paint brushes
--fine-tip black pen and pencil
--sandpaper
--rubber stamps (a few with well defined lines)
--stamp pads
--water container
--scissors
--Digital camera (optional-if you have one)

Materials fee includes:   additional paints, inks, mediums and photographs
