Opening Night Party

Join your friends for an evening of food and fun. First enjoy an incredible hors d’ oeuvre dinner prepared by the Embassy Chef. Then – have some fun with Maria from Collage. You will be making a one-of-a-kind journal compiling sketching, watercolor and newsprint pages with a vintage seashore theme.  Then using the Zutter Bind It All, you will spiral bind your journals.  The covers will be decorated featuring TJ Designs collage sheets, ephemera, ribbons and charms -- all with a beautiful vintage "By the Sea" theme.   Tickets to this fun-filled evening may be purchased on our merchandise page. Space is limited, so don't wait too long--see you there!!

Quarry and North Light Books are co-hosting a book signing party! This event will take place Friday evening at the Embassy Suites from 7-10 PM. Bring your books or purchase on site and have the authors sign them! A few of the participating authors include:

Also on Friday evening, a mini-workshop with Lisa Sonora Beam: The Creative Entrepreneur, will take place from 9:00 PM to 10:00 PM. There are only 25 spaces for this workshop so be sure to put your name on the list quickly. Sign ups begin at her table at 7:00 PM.

Lisa will give an overview of what this unique book offers. She will share one of the Journaling Exercises from the book, designed to explore personal strengths and goals related to starting or expanding a creative business.

Bring your journal and some art supplies. Questions and discussion are encouraged. Bring a copy of your book to sign or purchase a signed copy of the book from Lisa during the workshop.

The vendor event is free to registered attendees and is open to the public for a fee of $10 at the door.  We will have approx. 60 vendors, offering finished artwork, art supplies, vintage findings, fabrics, jewelry, collage items, assemblage--something for everyone!  A no-host bar will also be available to enhance your evening.  Please join us!

Free Shuttle to Alberta St. Shopping District

There will be a shuttle service from Tue-Mon from the Embassy Suites to Alberta St., an arts district in Portland noted for its award winning restaurants, art galleries and fabulous independent boutiques!  The shuttle is being arranged courtesy of Collage, a wonderful store full of papers, stamps and embellishments.  (Maria, the proprietor, is also managing the Art & Soul onsite "store" at the Embassy Suites!)  The shuttle will run from Tue. Sept. 30 through Mon. Oct. 6, throughout the day--more details when you check in!  So plan an extra day or afternoon to visit some of the local establishments!

       Workshop Location Information

Classes will be held at both the Embassy Suites and at the Sheraton Hotel, which is located across the street from the Embassy.  There will be hotel shuttle service to assist with transportation needs.  Both hotels will be offering a buffet lunch in addition to their full-service restaurant; the Embassy Suites will also have their "snack cart" with pre-packaged sandwiches, salads, and snacks, in addition to their restaurant.  Both management teams are exceptional, and the hotel staffs are committed to making this another fabulous event!
