A122 - Turn Over A New Leaf

Learn to make a beautiful enamel on copper necklace with matching earrings while capturing the beauty of turning leaves in permanent form.  If you haven’t had a chance to work with enamel on copper, this is the perfect opportunity. In this class you’ll learn how to torch fire enamel and how to make soldered
attachments. You will also learn a simple technique for making your own enamel on copper beads that you can use in your own creations. ‘Turn over a new leaf’ and join the fun.

Supply List:

• 14 or 16 gauge copper wire – 5 to 6 feet should be plenty
• 24 gauge copper approx 6 inches x 6 inches (should be at least 6 inches on one side)

Tool List:

• Round nose and flat nose pliers,
• Metal shears or tin snips suitable for cutting 24 gauge sheet metal
• Wire cutters – flush cutters preferred but not essential
• Tweezers
• Small hammer
• Small butane torch for soldering (crème Brule variety will work nicely)
• Soldering pad or firebrick for soldering on
• Small inexpensive brush for applying flux
• Files, fine sandpaper, sanding block or Scoth-brite type pad for cleaning and polishing
• Jeweler’s saw and #2 blades for cutting jump rings
• Bench Pin and Bench Block

All other supplies for the class will be provided by the instructor, including:
Copper tubing for beads
Enamel powders in a variety of colors
Silver solder and flux
Pickle solution
Liver of sulfur
