A127 - Hot Pallete Encaustic

I’ll bring all my encaustic equipment and teach you in one day what I’ve learned in years of working with hot wax medium and colored pigments. We’ll learn basic color mixing, transfers, stencils, embedding, collage, oil techniques, acrylic techniques, powdered pigment techniques, accretion, scraping, pearlized inclusions, intaglio and more. This is a class for anyone who loves wax and wants a crash course in the possibilities of this extraordinary medium. Supply List:

• 2-4 pcs. of plywood 8x10 (or any size near that) sheets - 1/4” thickness is fine
• collage materials
• acrylic paints & brushes
• water container
• portfolio, Lyra or Caran d’Arch crayons
• patterned tissue paper
• #11 exacto knife
• heat gun (opt. we only need a few)

A $20 materials fee to be paid to the instructor at the beginning of class. 

This fee includes:  wax medium and brushes, powdered pigments, oil paints, vinyl gloves, tracing paper, the use of torches, heat guns, irons, metal tools, gel mediums, student packets including a booklet on encaustic painting, amber shellac, watercolor paper.
