Bring your paints and join me in a guided journey as we make a simple booklet filled with pages of expressive faces on our own invented backgrounds. We’ll start right off with a series of exercises to get our right brains engaged and then we’ll experiment with paint, monoprint, collage, and numerous acrylic techniques to draw, paint and texture our pages. This is my favorite activity to do in my own studio and always takes me in surprising directiions. This will be a fast moving class with lots of intuitive exploration and risk taking. Each student will assemble their booklet and create pages filled with new techniques in paint and collage. This class is for all levels.

Student Supply List:

• acrylic paint - colors you love including black & white
• water container
• collage materials
• matte medium
• gel medium (the thick stuff)
• brushes - at least 3 in different sizes
• favorite rubber stamps or stencils (optional)
• stamp pads if you have them
• black stabilo pencil (the watercolor kind)
• tissue paper, plain & patterned
• bone folder
• awl or japanese punch
• needle with an eye big enough for the ribbons
• waxed paper
• steel brush
• lace, buttons, ribbon,
• sandpaper
• scissors
• apron

A $10 materials fee to be paid to the instructor at the beginning of class.

This fee includes: book materials (beautiful deckled watercolor paper, a selection of bindings and collage materials)
