A124 - The Infinite Journal- day 2

[back to quicklinks]

Many of us have journals from our travels, yearly diaries, or journals for a special time in our lives…sometimes we start a journal only to abandon it for a variety of reasons and those blank pages haunt us. What if there was a journal where pages could be added at will? Where one journey flowed into another? Where the years accumulated? Where our milestones were recorded in one place so that we could have an artistic and visual record of our lives?

A journal with no end? Indeed.

With a simple, elegant stitch we can expand this journal over and over again.

What will you use yours for? Will your trips to Italy, Canada, Paris, or Art & Soul be added on to create the ultimate Journal of Journeys? Will your journaling of 2009 be followed by 2010 then 11 and 12 creating the most unique family history you could hope to pass down to your children and their children? Or will you create a self portrait a day for an entire year.....365 pages of glorious (and not so glorious) you. What a lovely way to get to know yourself!

We will create rich backgrounds on our pages using color wash, paste paper and texturing techniques. Then we’ll be messing around, exploring the many ways to use acrylic paints and mediums, what effects can we get with dye inks, paint and various mark making tools. There will be lots of time to experiment and discover your style and voice in these mediums. Then we will play with finding and forming the visual and verbal symbology that speaks to, and for, you. Your pages will be as minimal or as layered as you want.

Spend two days with yourself, the color, the pages and begin a journal that grows by inches, by feet, across your table, down the yellow brick road and along the pathways of your heart.

A work of art where the possibilities are endless…just like this journal.
