doll. You will truly surprise yourself when you leave class with a fantastic, finished doll.
Supply list: wire cutters, sewing needle and thread, embroidery needle, Tacky glue, E6000,
½ yard cotton fabric for body (avoid “busy” fabrics, my favorites are “watercolor” or batiks),

half of each). Decide if you want to make a wrap or head scarf. Muslin
and smooth lightweight fabrics are good choices to try wash techniques.

content as possible) and a yard and a half of muslin, fringe, beading,
or sequins for the edge of your scarf (6 - 7 yards), any textile or

Sunday - Evening |
Come create a double-sided, hinged wooden shadow box that looks like a book from the
outside and is full of memories on the inside. A journal is hidden in the back opening of the
book – ready to record all those “secrets.” Create a tribute to someone special using
canvas, vintage images of children and coordinating treasures such as mini photo frames,
beads, a mini book, vintage theme decorative papers, lace and more. Images will be
provided; however, if you wish to use your own, please bring two photos of a child or
children to class with you for use in the frames. The images should be approximately 2"
wide x 3" tall (you may want to make a reduced color photocopy of your original image). If
you would like to use your own photos for the cover, the picture is approximately 4" wide
x 6" tall. Supply list: scissors and a ½” to 1" paintbrush. All levels. |

Coles, Juliana |
300 - Mixed Media Jam Session & Intro to Visual Journaling |
$70 |
|
Sunday - Evening |
Learn Juliana's unique mixed media techniques in this fun evening course designed for NO thinking - just play!
Scared of paint? Don't know how to get words into your art journal pages? We will explore many different
materials as we integrate easy writing exercises with mixed media assignments in the safe container of an
intimate book of self-expression: your visual journal. We work very quickly to lose our critic. A Visual
Journal can be a Blank Journal, altered book, antique scrapbook, your real baby book, a sketchbook, scroll,
record album covers sewn together , a beautiful book hand bound by you, a notebook-anything you want it to be.
For this class you will need your openness and willingness to explore your rich interior through art and words.
Afterwards, you'll sleep like a baby! Please bring your Visual Journal. It can be any size or shape, (I usually
like to have at least two- a small one and a larger one) with any kind of paper. It can be new, or something you
are all ready working on. In this class, our focus is on process, not product. Note: Each student will be required
to bring a "Mystery Bag." A plastic grocery bag will do. (Nothing is too small!) Some suggestions are collage items,
an old paintbrush that is all glued together, that orange paint you hate, stickers from when you were 14, Artist tools
and supplies you no longer use or never liked, torn up pieces of your artwork that didn't work out (no recognizable artwork,
please) books to cut up, fabric, magazines, sticks, markers, 2 inch pencils, you get the picture-sort of a grab bag. We
will be using these mystery bags as part of our mixed media explorations. What, and how much to bring, is up to you.
Don't worry about trying to include nice things- we're looking more for garbage items. We all ready have our own nice
supplies-we want your cast offs to really make us think! Please e-mail me with any questions at: meandpete@msn.com.
Supply list: Please bring your favorite supplies. Bring
different kinds of things in your favorite colors. I like, Black and White acrylic, cheap craft paints in Dark brown and
butter cream, brush markers in orange and hot pink, yellow black and red permanent markers, some colored pencils, a regular
pencil, a sharpener, all kinds of tape, even a little stapler, India ink and walnut ink, red watercolor, a few water color
crayons, my rubber stamp letters, poetry books to cut up, gold stamp pads, and I never travel without masking tape....just make
sure you have some wet items, and some dry items. Quick and easy is our motto! You won't really need a lot as we'll be
working mostly from the mystery bags - but definitely bring the following: your book, your favorite glue (I love UHU glue sticks
but they don't seem to work so well in humidity!), scissors, some brushes for your paints, a rag or two, and a jar for water,
at least two cheap craft paints (a light color and a dark color), at least one magazine, and a regular graphite pencil (no fancy
numbers or drawing pencils are necessary - just your regular pencil). All levels. |

collage. Supply list: Bring several 4x6 photographs, digital or photocopied images to
transfer, which will remain unharmed. Instructor will provide various papers, fabric, and

075 - SoulCollage™ |
$110 |
| Tuesday - All Day | Experience the process of paper collage in a totally new way! This class takes self-discovery
and visual journaling to a new level! SoulCollage™, developed by Seena Frost
(in conjunction with Jean Houston) and outlined in the book of the same name, is an intuitive
collage process for individuals and groups. SoulCollage™ uses images from magazines
and other sources to create a personal “tarot-like” deck of cards. In class, students will
create their own cards and participate in activities that show you how to interpret the cards
for yourself. SoulCollage™ is a very personal artistic experience that allows and encourages
the muse, the gypsy, and other archetypes or “aspects of self” to come forth and speak up!
Take this workshop and learn a powerful process, then take the learning home and create
more cards and to do more personal soul searching! After taking this class, you may even
want to create and lead your own SoulCollage™ group! To learn more about SoulCollage™
visit www.soulcollage.com. Here’s an excerpt from the author: SoulCollage™ is a system
for creating a deck of cards, which is a visual journal, your own living journal to which you
can add over years. Your deck of SoulCollage™ cards will help you identify and image
your diverse inner parts, the beautiful ones and shadowy ones, the easy-to-like ones, and
the harder-to-like ones. You will also reflect on the external guides and allies in your life,
visible and invisible, human and archetypal, and make cards for them. A SoulCollage™
deck is the Story of You. Supply list: two or three magazines (National Geographic is
especially good, also Oprah, and the like), images from calendars, greeting cards and other
sources that “speak to you,” and your favorite glue stick. Instructor will provide matboard
