Please join us as we dive into the fine art of transforming the mundane into the extraordinary! This workshop is certainly not for the neat & tidy, but if you want to step out of the "pretty" box & take a walk on the grungy side, this class is for you! We will have a blast altering found dolls to make them look like unearthed relics. Rust, patina, mud, paint, wax, shellac, sanding, distressing, stabbing & cutting off limbs & heads, nothing is off limits! I must admit that my heart lies with the grunge. I don't know why, perhaps a combination of over protective parents, growing up in suburbia in the 70's, a twisted ex-boyfriend here & there? Whatever the reason, rust, time worn aged surfaces, green patinas all makes me drool! I've been doing way too much pretty lately, pretty colors, pretty canvases, pretty surfaces, I'm ready to muck it up for awhile now. I do hope that you will join me!
Supply List:
- Two old dolls, any size, as long as it's not plastic preferably cloth or porcelain.
- At least 6 oz. of white gesso
- 4 oz. of glue
- 3 or 4 small tubes of acrylic paints & 2 or 3 brushes, 1 small, 1 medium & 1 large-ish
- Craft wire
- A variety of small found objects
A NoTe ABouT SuPpliEs
I bring plenty of images, ephemera & small found objects for everyone to use. However, I believe that it is important to have some materials to work with that you are familiar with & comfortable using. Therefore, I ask that you bring some images & ephemera that you love to work with. Also, we usually end up having a community pile for everyone to use, so please bring extras to share.
