Bring your journals or blank books and join me in a day of mixed media exploration and fun. The journal is the perfect place for artists and writers alike to develop new ideas and nurture dreams. The focus of the class will be breaking down resistance and witholding judgment as we bring to life our images and words. We’ll make stamps, experiment with paint, monoprint and water soluble crayons; stencils, stamp pads, sumi ink, collage and various art making products. We will explore hand drawn letter forms and consider composition and placement of words and images. We will work on developing a personal cursive and painted collage style and in enriching the creative process on all levels.
Student Supply List:
Bring any book to work in. 8” x 10” or larger. If the paper is thin, glue them together in two’s.
acrylic paint - colors you love including black & white (ochre, napthol red, ultramarine blue, etc.)
gesso & acrylic matte medium
glue stick - one fat or several small ones
brushes - cheap ones are okay - one rather large, one medium, one small
rubber stamps & stencils if you have them - especially alphabets and numbers
ink pads if you have them - dye or solvent
water soluable crayons if you have them
a handful of your favorite pens
collage materials (there will be more in your packet)
