The student will take all 3 consecutive sessions in order:  *   I will introduce my life long quest for creating teaching models that decode the mystery of creative visual thinking.  Thirty years ago I discovered an ancient visual alphabet called “Chaos” that unlocks the minds creative visual doors making it extremely easy to paint a very complex realistic painting.  2*. I will introduce a simple way to create a strong visual framework for the paintings composition.   3*.  Creating the realism through 5 question games resulting in a finished powerful painting.

“Dan Carrel guarantees that he can teach absolutely anyone to paint (in 18 hours) and it is not simply a prideful boast, although his credentials give him every right to do so. What motivates this experienced teacher and masterful artist is a deeply held conviction that artistic expression is the birthright of every living soul and it’s his mission to help you access that divine right. Dan teaches a series of (3) inspiring sessions that will quickly dispel the limitations of “talent” myth and remind you how to play simple visual games that access innate creativity and are the very foundations for visual art. Even if you have never picked up a paintbrush you’ll find yourself painting beyond your wildest expectations. Return to your job, your family, your life with a whole new sense of self and a deepening joy in your newfound creative expression. Listen the artist that is your soul is calling.” ZENTO HAWAII magazine June 2003

Student Supplies -Students should bring the following supplies:

Pictures- books, magazines, calendars, or clear personal photos of landscapes only. Subject matter of Landscape photos should be very detailed to the point that it intimidates you. The more intricate the detail the easer it will be to paint with this process! Jungle, waterfalls, rocky coasts, deserts, mountain streams, complex “Monet” like water reflections, forests, or all of the above. Photos that you have passion for. I will remove your fear of the complex.

Painting Supplies- We will be painting with acrylic of any consistency thick viscosity or thin they both have their uses. As you all know the better the pigment in the paint the better the product but any acrylic will do to understand the process. We will be using a lot of gloss acrylic medium. Two 16 fl. oz jars will work. You can bring a small amount of matt varnish if you want a matt surface at the end of the painting.  A standard pallet can consist of 2fl. oz jars or tubes: Cobalt Blue, Ultramarine Blue, Phthalo Blue and Green, Permanent Green, Brilliant Green, Chromium Green Oxide, Cadmium or Cadmium Hue- (Orange, Yellow Light, Red Medium), Yellow Ocher, Alizarin Crimson, Dioxazine Purple and 8 fl. oz. of Ivory Black, and any neutral white.  An assortment of brushes soft synthetic sable  (½”- #0) flats and ¼”- #000 rounds for detail. A set of white hog hair brushes (1/2”- #2) flats and one ¾” fan brush.
