And I do – love cardboard that is! This lowly recyclable continues to be one of my favorite art materials. Come and explore the artistic possibilities of this discarded textural goldmine as we create a unique and chunky little mixed media book from cardboard, fabric, new and recycled papers, collage, and paint. I will share how to cut, shave, and carve into the cardboard pages to build texture, and demonstrate painting, collage, and transfer techniques to build up layers and age your pages. The finished cardboard pages will be coated with encaustic wax before we stitch it all together. This fun (and possibly addicting!) project is a variation of the Nov/Dec 2007 article I wrote for Cloth Paper Scissors magazine, entitled Collage Boards.
