All of us at one time or another have heard the expression or have been told to “loosen up” when art creating. Well, we are going to “loosen up” using a structured gridded pattern on a solid wood substrate. Each us will map out our own unique pattern on a prepared textural surface and begin playing and exploring using found object elements, paint, paper and wax, creating a complex yet whimsical piece of art. You will go home with a beautiful work of art and a broad array of techniques that can be adapted to many art applications in this technique/project class. We will learn painting techniques that I use to create my own unique mixed media pieces. Bring your hammer…
Supply List:
•• Paint brushes/large and small
• Small Hammer
• Phillips screwdriver
• Small finishing nails
• Small needle nose pliers
• Floral wire - found in craft stores
• Exacto knife-or some kind of blade for cutting paper
• Scissors-plain
• Decorative edge scissors-optional
• Assorted papers (some ideas might include vintage, artists papers, or your own handmade papers)
• Assorted found object/embellishments/flea market, craft store finds etc. )3-dimensional a must).
Please bring items to share or throw in the pile--the more the merrier
• Golden Extra-Heavy Matte Gel Medium/and or other adhesive/E6000
• Acrylic paint - Golden fluid acrylics but heavy body is fine
• water soluble colored crayons
• Clear 18” ruler that is grided
• Assorted rubber stamps
• Dremel with small bits (optional-bring it if you have it)
A $15 Materials fee payable to the instructor includes:
-- 12"x18" maple wood panel-primed and ready to go
--use of tools and artists art supplies in class
--graphite sticks- pencils
-- some collage materials in a share pile
--all wax materials and setup
