Is it a one of a kind treasure from the attic or a holy relic from the past? The covers of this amazing journal capture your favorite images in stained glass and steel and copper binding that requires no sewing and no glass drilling! Using simple hand tools, stained glass, copper plumber's tape, standard hardware, and steel wire, you will fabricate all the components, assemble, and bind this unique and precious book completely "from scratch." Also covered are techniques for producing vivid colors and authentic antiquing on metal surfaces with patinas and torching, stained glass cutting, basic bookbinding, wire wrapping, attachment of found objects, and beadwork.
Supply List (required): --tin snips (Wiss brand “notching” snips preferred) --lineman’s pliers --scissors --paintbrush --ruler/yardstick --bonefolder --screwdrivers (flat, and Phillips) --glass cutter --heavy-duty wire cutters (diagonal) --one poster-size (22”x38”) piece of heavy watercolor --four decorative printed scrapbook sheets (8”x10”) --any ephemera you’d like to add to the chain, e.g., charms, found objects, etc.
Kit fee includes: copper plumber's tape, glass, wire, nuts, bolts, washers, steel rod, chain, beads, headpins, jump rings, and transparencies (or bring your own for your cover. You'll need four-- two with images, and two with text, measuring at least 5"w x 7"h.)
