9-4:30 Sunday	312 - Animated Music Box: Mixed Media Collage	[back to quicklinks] $ 135 Plus $25 materials fee
Create a simple music box from a small Altoid tin, with a collaged art-doll that hovers over a stage of glass glitter. The doll actually twirls when the handle is cranked, while the music echoes through the metal box. Several techniques are covered in this mixed media assemblage class including altering metal, using a jeweler’s saw, fabricating an acrylic doll from vintage paper doll patters, and embellishing with vintage papers, glass beads, glass glitter and anything else you can think of. Construct a simple music box complete with animation, drilling holes in metal and fabricating metal legs from copper tubing. Supply List: --Nylon head hammer; --smooth jaw chain nose pliers; --wire cutters; --Fiskars hand drill or Dremel tool with 1/16th inch bit and drill with 5/16th inch bit; --metal punch; --awl (Making Memories); --2 small screw drivers (one phillips, one flat), --jewelers saw (Rio Grande Supply); --sharp pointy scissors; --Crazy Glue gel; --tin snips; bench pin for jewelers saw; --small clamps; --quick grip rubber cement (Home Depot); --glue stick. (We will have tools to share, but the class will move much more quickly if you have your own tools.) NOTE--this class will be held at the Holiday Inn, just down the road from the Embassy Suites. The hotel shuttle will be available for those who need transportation. Lunch is included in the cost of your class. Online registration for the Portland event is now closed.
