We will take your 4”x5” image from a photo, digital printout, or collage and transfer it onto various materials using the DayLab Copy System. This machine acts as a camera, projecting the image onto Polaroid film. The film makes either an image or an emulsion transfer on watercolor paper, silk or wood. Your final product will be a unique piece of art ready to matt and frame, embellish with collage, or use in an altered book. The image transfer is very ethereal and magical, with a soft, muted image with distinctive uneven edges. If you like your colors brighter, you can start with a supersaturated inject image. This process encourages having fun doing instant collages that are not permanent.
Supply List: --black & white or color images (this process will NOT damage your original images). Images will be smaller in the final product, so keep that in mind when making your selections. Some cropping will occur in images that are 4”x6”—choose images that are clear, with good detail; --collage items; --scissors; --black Sharpie.
Instructor will provide: film, instruction booklet and a packet of receptor materials (watercolor paper, silk, wood). In keeping with the Parisian theme, Parisian images to share for transferring will be available; transparencies with printed words for layering.
