326 - Pinhole Polaroid's MacGyver Style |
[back to quicklinks]

Experience the fun of pinhole photography without the need for a darkroom, making it something you can continue to explore at home. We will take an ordinary Polaroid camera and “MacGyver” it into a pinhole camera by removing the lens and putting on a pinhole that we fashion from a piece of soda can. The best part of using a Polaroid camera for this is that it gives instant results and the photos can have an ethereal and dreamy look to them. After magically transforming the cameras into pinhole cameras, we will be on location, shooting and tweaking the pinholes. I will also teach you how to hand-color the photos to add new dimension and create an encaustic effect. You'll leave class with your MacGyvered Pinhole Polaroid Camera, wonderful photos, and the knowledge to continue experimenting on your own. I'll bring empty pop cans, needles/hole punches, photos tape, filters, circle templates ,screw drivers, black sharpies, and hand-coloring supplies.
Supply List: --a functioning Polaroid camera without film in it. You can pick them up cheaply at thrift stores, garage sales or on Ebay. --2 packs of film for your camera --scissors
