The idea of hours spent decorating a calligraphed Initial with patterns and flowers is so 12th century! We’ll take this idea and twist it in a decidedly 21st century way and make beautiful letterforms. The artist will combine and layer fabric, paper, charms, embellishments and foil to create amazing letters--no calligraphy experience required. The instructor will present design and composition ideas. We’ll choose a word to define this letter (or ourselves) and design our piece using this for inspiration and cues for color, text and texture. Beautiful faux gilding will complete this letter. Supply List: --Fabric and Paper Scraps-we’ll have a sharing table --Used Paperback Dictionary --Zig calligraphy marker(s)--Available at Target --Sharpies (fine point), gel pens --doodads, amulets, beads, brads, embellishments --Small Images --Stamps --Small container of Yes Glue --Gel medium or your favorite adhesive --Scissors --Small pointed paintbrush ( 0 or 1 size-cheap) Kit fee includes: gilding size, gold leaf and foil, fabric scraps, paper Questions?
