This workshop will be divided into two half-day sessions. The morning will be devoted to learning techniques required to fashion windows, inlays and inclusions. The emphasis will be the use of alternative cover materials (wood, papyrus, etc). Simple tricks and subtle details will take your work to new levels. In the afternoon, we will focus on designing custom closures for your books. Closures are a finishing touch that can turn a well-bound book into a masterpiece. A variety of techniques and a vast assortment of materials will be introduced and demonstrated. Supply List: --Pencil; --sharp scissors; --Exacto knife & blades; --cutting surface; --bone folder; --ruler; --awl. Instructor will provide all materials and some tools for use. CLOSED - CLASS FULL Online registration for the Portland event is now closed. Late sign-ups will be taken at the Art & Soul office at the Portland event, depending upon availability.
