Do you love playing with watercolors but become frustrated with the results? This class lets you have fun with watercolor and create beautiful paintings and collages without worrying about your drawing skills. Students will learn a foolproof way to mix luminous and vibrant watercolors with Dory's triad palette. You will receive your own Color round palette filled with six pigments and a plastic template to showcase each watercolor triad. Each day starts with a spirited watercolor journal activity, designed as a creativity wake-up and a playful way to experiment with the joys of triad color mixing. Day one starts with Word Weaves, a lively way to combine the written word and colorful watercolor washes. The day continues as you make Crinkled Paper Collages. Paint on crinkled Japanese Masa paper for a strikingly textured watercolor painting with a fantastic "batik" appearance. On day two, you’ll begin by creating a Prismatic Painting, based on a spontaneous one-minute drawing. In the afternoon, you’ll create a floral painting, using Dory's deceptively simple Flower Scatter technique. All levels. Supply List: --journal or sketchbook; --pencil & eraser; --round watercolor brushes ( #2,4 & 6); --sheet of (22" by 30") 140lb cold press watercolor paper. You can cut this into two pieces (I prefer Arches); --small container of Elmer's white glue or acid free PVA glue; ---glue brush; --masking tape or drafting tape; --scissors; --gold gel pen; --table salt - approx 3 tbs NOTE--this class will be held at the Holiday Inn, just down the road from the Embassy Suites. The hotel shuttle will be available for those who need transportation.  Lunch is included in the cost of your class. Online registration for the Portland event is now closed.
