Based on an antique French sewing box, this project is as versatile as it is unique. Boxes will be covered with fabrics of your choice, allowing for additional decorative stitches and beading. With our supplies, we will show you how to turn your fabric into a one-of-a-kind functional sculpture. Interior pockets and bands can hold artwork, sewing supplies, jewelry or memorabilia. Although you will be following our directions, your box will reflect your own unique design style. Be prepared to be inspired by our assortment of boxes and by the ingenuity of your fellow students. Supply List: --one yd. of main fabric (cotton or cotton blend); --1/2 yd of two to three fabrics that coordinate with main fabric; --two to three skeins of floss or perle cotton; --buttons, charms, beads or trims; --embroidery needle; --scissors; --rubber stamps with sayings or words that are meaningful to you; --ruler; --24" of one-inch wide grosgrain ribbon. Kit fee includes: patterns, precut Timtex base, 1 1/2 yd cord, elastic, and Fabri-Tac adhesive. Online registration for the Portland event is now closed.
