Laurie Mika 6-10 Wednesday Eve	378 - Outside the Box--Mosaic Relic Boxes	[back to quicklinks] $ 70 Plus $20 materials fee
It is time to think “outside the box” when creating these mixed-media mosaic boxes.  Students will learn how to make polymer clay tiles which will be used to create mosaic box tops.  Using demos and a hands-on approach, students will learn  the various steps from rolling out the clay to glazing the final product.  In addition, I will cover many “tricks of the trade” for creating unique looks with polymer clay.  Due to facility constraints for oven usage, I will be providing the tiles for students to paint.  The boxes will then be embellished by either painting, rubber-stamping or collaging or a little of all three! We will give our boxes legs, and lastly, students will learn how to make beaded tassels for the sides of the box.  The final result will be very cool little boxes that are both functional and decorative. Supply List: --acrylic paints (3-4 colors) --Weldbond glue --assorted brushes, including a fine detail brush --ruler --pencil --beads and charms for the tassels Optional items: --favorite rubber stamps/ink pad if you would like to stamp your box (see pics) --collage items Visit Laurie's website at mikaarts.com Online registration for the Portland event is now closed.
