Lesley's second book, "Fabric Memory Books", explores the many ways fabric can be used to create unique, non-traditional books. Be among the first to get a sneak preview and hands-on experience while working with favorite fabrics and new, fabric-like materials that take the place of paper. These surfaces have the texture and appeal of fabric but are suitable for writing, drawing, painting and more.
In this class, you will learn how to dye, paint and pattern two new materials for your pages and learn how to adhere paper without gluing. You will construct two different styles of books. Minimal hand sewing required. A machine will be available for minimal machine stitching too, if that's what you want to do. You will have time to begin to create page art or text in both of them. Each of you will leave class well on your way to completing two very personal works of art. This is a chance for those new to either fiber art or bookmaking to explore either medium, as well as a wonderful new approach for seasoned book or fiber artists.
