Day One: Immerse yourself in decorative variations using colored gesso as a primary medium. Using the gesso full strength, as color wash, as paste and by combining these applications, we will explore the possibilities. A large selection of stencils and stamps provide a basis for pattern on the paper. The invitation is to experiment by layering the gesso and the patterns that speak to you expressing a language of design that is your own.
Day Two: Sift and sort through the many papers you have created and choose which will get to live in your book. There will be time to touch up or enhance those that need a little punch to make the cut. The extra papers are the seeds of artwork to come. Our presentation format is a thick book covered with cloth in a way that seems to frame an example of your at work and invite entry to the treasures inside. The sewing is quite simple with beads highlighting an elegant stitch.
Supply List: --apron; --bone folder; --ruler; --Exacto knife; --cutting mat; --pen or pencil; --scissors; --awl or Japanese hole punch
