Love fabric, glitz and sparkle, but hate to sew? Then this is the workshop for you! With a fine- tipped soldering iron, you will learn to draw on, cut, and bond synthetic fabrics into a watercolor-like explosion of color. This exciting technique is like a happy marriage of three mediums: it glows with the luminosity of watercolor, excites with the geometry of Byzantine mosaics, and then invites the eye with texture of collage art. You will explore the medium in the morning, becoming familiar with different techniques and tools. In the afternoon, you will create your artwork using pockets, cut-out frames, three dimensional effects and weaves to display memories of a photo shoot in the Pere-Lachaise and other cemeteries around Paris.
Supply List: --16-20 Watt soldering iron and stand; --very fine pointed tip for soldering iron; --sheet of glass at least 8”x10” to protect work space (tape the edges); --steel wool-soft grade, 000; --metal rulers; --respirator; --any photos or photo transfers to use; --one-half yard each of 3 synthetic fabrics (nylon organza, polyester, synthetic sheers, lame); --one half yard of acrylic felt in coordinating color; --scissors.
