[back to quicklinks]
$ 125

Bags bulge with treasures after a day at the beach. Transform these shells, sea glass, stones and other finds into extraordinary wearable / visual art with freeform techniques that will inspire you to comb the beaches! Learn how to encase and interconnect shells, sea glass, stones and other pieces to create flowing, organic works of art. For more information see www.gilbertdesigns.net

You may choose to bring your own treasures and supplies or purchase kits during the class. Please visit: www.gilbertdesigns.net for an array of ideas and color palettes that will be offered or to reserve a kit ahead of time. If you choose to purchase a kit, then all you need to bring is a task light.

If you choose to bring your own supplies, then please bring the following:
– A series of treasures that you want to encase (sea glass, stones, shells etc.)
– Seed Bead Soup in colors that complement your treasures and consisting of at least the following: All sizes of seed beads from 14/0 to 5/0, in numerous shapes such as round, hex, tube etc. and in a variety of finishes such as shiny, matte, transparent etc. (I usually draw from around 20 to 40 different seed bead tubes.)
– A few accent beads (pearls, stones, glass) in colors that match or compliment your focal piece and bead soup. These accent pieces should be of a size that won’t overpower your treasure.
– Your thread of choice in size b or 4 pound
– Size 12 needles
– Beeswax
– Task light (optional)
– Scissors
– Bead mat for working your piece on
– Bead tray or extra mat for your bead soup

Optional items: You may find a task light and / or magnifying glasses helpful
