Gourds have been used since ancient times for everything from storage to decoration. You will be provided with a gourd cleaned and prepared for you to experiment with many different techniques to create a gourd based work of art. Learn cutting, woodburning, coloration, weaving within and on the gourd shell, the incorporation of other material, such as metal and air dry clay faces, as well as how to preserve the finished gourd. I will demonstrate how you can create jewelry with scrap gourd pieces. You will be amazed at the art you can create with this home-grown media.

Supply list:
--woodburning tool (the detail woodburner at Michaels is perfect for this class)
--embellishments you would like to use on the gourd

Materials fee includes: gourd, inks, shoe dye, wax, weaving materials, drywall sandpaper
