Create a one-of-a-kind, whimsical handbag with a view! Make your class project horizontal, or vertical, and just about any size you would like. We will be adding a giclee canvas print, creating a fabric landscape or other composition of your choosing, and embellishing it with acrylic paint washes. No painting experience necessary. You may use your own image if desired. It can be transferred to fabric prior to class. Basic sewing experience necessary, and you will need a sewing machine.
Supply List:
* Approximately 1/2 yard muslin for your purse base
* Iron (and extension cord if you have one and can fit it in). A craft will work if you are unable to bring a full size iron (please do NOT use the hotel irons!)
* A small kitchen towel to iron on (used as a padding)
* Embellishments: buttons, lace, trim, old jewelry... Any treasure you would like to sew or glue on your purse.
* Tacky glue
* 1/2 yard iron-on fleece (compact batting)
* 1/2 yard HeatnBond lite fusible webbing. Needs to be LITE. HeatnBond is the brand that works best. Wonder Under doesn’t work.
* 1/2 yard cotton fabric for lining and strap
* Cotton scraps to create pockets, landscapes and fabric collage on totes.
* Golden Fluid paints. A brown, and a few favorites to match your fabric colors.
If you have fabric paints, or other acrylic paints and a textile medium, you could substitute them for the Fluid paints.
* Stiff 1/2" wide (or close to that) brush.
* Water container.
* Paper towels.
* Paint palette. A piece of freezer paper or any palette that you have. Flat will work best.
* Ruler
* Scissors
* Sewing machine and thread to match your color choices. Bring black or neutral if unsure.

Optional:
We will be sewing a fabric strap in class, but you may bring an alternate strap if you prefer. This could be a purchased strap or handle, chain, cording etc. It needs to fit in a 3/8" grommet. If you have a 3/8" grommet punch and hammer, please bring it. I will bring one set to share.
