Faux Bone is one of the newest and most versatile materials to come along in years! In this workshop we will be using the Faux Bone to fashion a fabulous bracelet that will be completely personalized by each participant. The tools are basic, the material friendly and the process easy and accessible. There are none of the sticking or binding problems with sawing the material (unlike Plexiglas or other plastics). You will be able to cut, stamp, file, and scrimshaw, to add surface design and inlay wire, epoxy, or polymer clay to add depth. The material is so strong you can rivet, nail, or screw anything to it without concern for cracking or breaking. It can be heated and bent with nothing more than an embossing heat gun and if you don’t like it, it can be heated and will return to flat – all by itself and then heated again. Found objects can be incorporated as well as fired pieces of metal clay, beads, ephemera, and just about anything else you would like to include. Finally, the entire piece will be finished to look and feel like a cross between ivory and Bakelite. Students can expect to finish at least one bracelet and possibly more.
