1279 - Vintage Metal Treasure Deck

[back to quicklinks]
$ 135 Plus $20 materials fee

Transform ordinary metal into a fabulous thick, chunky, beautifully embellished deck of cards!  Each student will receive 10 flat pieces of metal, playing card size, to transform into a beautiful work of art. Each card will represent a meaningful word or theme which will be further explored in text on the back of the card.   Upon completion, they will be bound together with wire & danglies.  Learn several surface altering techniques using patinas, rust, gesso & wax. Join us for a fun, exciting day of creativity & inspiration!

Supply List:
--4 oz of PVA glue, (www.booksbyhand.com, under tools & supplies)
--4 oz. of white gesso
--Scissors & a few medium size paint brushes
--4 oz of Modern Options Patina, blue or green. Be sure to buy the matching copper surfacer, patina will not work without it.
--Eyelets & setter if you have one
--2 or 3 of your favorite acrylic paints... These cards are small so you don't need huge 8 oz. tubes of paint for this class. If everyone brings a SMALL amount of 2 or 3 colors & is willing to share, there should be plenty to go around. I also bring paint to share.
--Small images & small found objects
--A heat gun if you have one

Materials fee includes:
10 pieces of metal; chain; a variety of specialty papers; small found objects & findings to hang from the deck; ephemera; images

I bring plenty of images, ephemera & small found objects  for everyone to use.  However, I believe that it is important to have some materials to work with that you are familiar with & comfortable using.  Therefore, I  ask that you bring some images & ephemera that you love to work with.  Also, we usually end up having a community pile for everyone to use, so please bring extras to share.

Please contact me at lklight@copper.net or 505-345-3614 if you have any questions, and visit my blog at lklight.blogspot.com
