Building on knowledge acquired in the Painted Nature workshop, we will explore more advanced painting, distressing, and stenciling techniques to develop and render a scene of flora and/or fauna
subjects within a complex background. Working with a canvas surface, we will work intuitively to create one drawing by combining different elements from many resources, such as images, photographs, pre-cut stencils and student designed stencils. This sketch will serve as a guide to aid in bringing the scene to life through acrylic painting, and distressing methods. Students will also learn how to extract subjects from a canvas support giving options for placing a painted element onto a completely different
background and/or creating a 3D effect. Advanced distressing methods and products, such as rusting and metal patinas, will be discussed, demonstrated, and used.
