(Official Warning: This workshop can be emotionally intense and psychologically challenging for some. Please read the following description carefully. These courses are life altering and not recommended for those not interested in doing deep inner work.) No prior experience necessary, however, this workshop is intense and recommended for advanced levels only or those willing to initiate this path of self discovery. A certain level of self awareness will be expected. If you‘ve taken a workshop with me before, this should be a piece of cake...) This is a transformational exercise which I developed for my retreats. It is called transforming the wound. Not for the uninitiated. If you are ready to experience a meaningful encounter with the self, then come with me. You know who you are. I am the gentle and protective guide, rescuing little ones along the way. I’ll watch out for you as we travel through two intensive journal writing assignments combined with art making exercises to dig deep to find ourselves and tell our own unique story in our own individual way. This is where we embrace all rejected parts of the self. It gets messy here, dirty, and so hauntingly beautiful - this is where the soul protects itself from those who would harm it, including ourselves. We won’t be making our pages presentable by prettying things up around the edges or using words like “whimsical.” Unhindered by technique and pretense, we give up the desire to allow others to define us.
We explore our lives in our Visual journals and find healing. We uncover our rich interior and fill ourselves with self definition and authenticity. We claim the right to be, page after page after page. As my sister inquires, who among us is not afraid? Welcome little ones, welcome to the revolution.
Supplies:
- Please bring: Your Visual Journal, your favorite supplies or your traveling mixed media tool kit.
- You will definitely need the following: your favorite glue - I love big UHU gluesticks,
- scissors,
- a writing pen,
- some brushes for your paints, a rag or two, and a jar for water.
- I recommend an opaque paint like black or white.
- All Visual Journalist’s should have a set of rubber stamp letters. And I highly recommend Staz On stamp pads because we work so quickly.
- The rest is up to you.
Collage: Bring some collage items that appeal to you (bring copies of things that are precious to you.)
please email Juliana Coles at meandpete@msn.com or meandpete.com for any questions or concerns.
