Many people lust after hand-carved alphabet stamps and like the unique, artistic & handmade look, but are afraid to try it themselves. I will show you how easy it is to carve your own alphabet stamps, either from your own original lettering or from existing fonts. This low-tech process is fun, easy, and addictive. In class I’ll teach you the skills needed to carve your one-of-a-kind alphabet and get you started so that you can finish up on your own outside of class. To make the stamps, we will be using simple carving tools and eraser-type carving blocks. You will be surprised how easy it is and no carving experience necessary. For more information, visit my web site at www.TraciBunkers.com. Questions? E-mail me at traci@tracibunkers.com.

I'll supply the drawing paper, tracing paper & baby wipes.

Supplies Needed for Class:

  • Linoleum Cutter & Handle: Small & large V- gouge and U-gouge are the main cutters needed (I like the Speedball set that comes with the handle and cutters. The handle is a hollow plastic to store the cutters in.)
  • Exacto knife and sharp blade
  • steel ruler (small is fine)
  • small cutting mat
  • pencil
  • carving blocks: several large eraser-type carving blocks (such as Staedtler Mastercarve Artist Carving Block or Speedball Speedy cut). For a whole alphabet, you will need 3-4 blocks that are about 4” x 6”, depending on the size of letters you are carving
  • stamp pad
  • paper to stamp on
  • Any printed fonts/type or your own original lettering. These need to be the size you want to use. We will trace them onto tracing paper.

Optional items:

Small table light for a brighter work area for detailed work

NOTE: I have kits available with the Speedball linoleum cutters, handle, and erasers, but they do not have the large carving blocks. Please e-mail me in advance if you'd like to purchase one for the class.
