Assemblag-ianados Stephanie Lee and Michael deMeng are teaming up. Not to save the world, not conquer evil, not sing an ABBA duet, but to teach a combo class of epic proportions…well, maybe not like Lawrence of Arabia epic proportions, but still it will be pretty cool. In this class students will be creating plaster homes for santos, deities or effigies of the students choosing. Stephanie, the Master of the Plaster, is kickin’ it off with techniques to build a structure out of the most basic materials, yet transforming it into something magnificent and grand. Michael deMeng, the Fonzie of the Found Object, jumps in for the adornment, painting, of the structure and the creation and/or modification of the figure to be housed in this nicho. This is a two day class that will involve a variety of techniques from two instructors, including sculpture, painting, assemblage…and much much more. As the saying goes…people who live in plaster houses shouldn’t throw…er…things that smash plaster houses…well maybe that’s not a saying, but it should be.
