Join printers Judy Wise and Bee Shay as they join forces to take the mystery out of printmaking and bring it into your world. Spend the day learning printing and surface design methods that you can take home with you and do without any special equipment…no presses, no hard to find papers or inks that are difficult to work with. You can use these prints (yep even the ones that you don’t like will end up somewhere!) in your collage and painting work or simply let them stand on their own merits. We will experiment with printing plates that you will make yourself out of things we all have around our studios and homes and several approaches to mono-printing. We will also play with blue blocks, rubber stamps, stencils, masks, carving block and we will run wild and free with brayers. The morning will concentrate (and we use that term lightly) on creating your printing plates and then we will run through all the basics of printing and be covered in ink and paint by lunch! The afternoon will focus on printing, printing, printing and many aspects of creating your own prints without the use of presses or special materials will be covered. We will run rampant with brayers and in general, prints will be flying every where!! Come and join us for an exploration into the world of print making and surface design and increase your visual vocabulary ten fold. Your art making will take on whole new depths with these applied methods.
So bring your energy and enthusiasm and off we’ll go into the wild world of PRINT MAKING !!!
