One of my super powers is I can turn just about anything into an interesting stamp, printing block or tool (I'm one of MacGyver's love children). In this class, I’ll teach you how to see the overlooked, everyday objects in a new way, and how to MacGyver them into easy to use printing blocks and tools to enhance your artwork. The various methods I'll teach you will range from very simple stamp carving to building your own printing blocks and stamps from inexpensive, ordinary and not so ordinary materials. This class will expand your stamping and printing arsenal! You will leave class not only with your own stamps and printing tools, but also with the knowledge of how to MacGyver your own. So strap on your tool belt, get your stick of dynamite and empty toothpaste tube, and let's go.
I will supply foam core, paper towels, wax paper, and the wonderful and weird materials for the printing blocks.
a $5 materials fee payable to the instructor covers the special materials and other items used in class to create the stamps.
No experience necessary. All skill-levels welcome! For more information, visit my web site at www.TraciBunkers.com. Questions? E-mail me at traci@tracibunkers.com.
Supplies Needed for Class:
-
Basic Tools: Scissors, Glue stick, Exacto knife, straight-edge/ruler
-
Acrylic paints—a few colors (cheap craft paints are fine)
-
a few permanent stamp pads (Staz-on works best!)
-
a few cheap, fat, round stiff paint brushes--like stencil brushes. Cheap kid’s brushes work fine.
-
Brayer
-
Small roll of permanent double-sided tape
-
small cutting mat
-
Linoleum Cutter & Handle: Small & large V- gouge and U-gouge are the main cutters needed (I like the Speedball set that comes with the handle and cutters. The handle is a hollow plastic to store the cutters in.)

pencil

2 or 3 white vinyl erasers, and/or flat pink erasers
-
any kind of paper to try stamps on
Optional items or suggestions to enhance the class project:
Anything with texture that you want to try to print with or use as a stencil
