P405 - The Art of Steampunk Jewelry

[back to quicklinks]
$ 70

Using the cogs, gears, cases, movements and faces, those in this Steampunk jewelry class will be able to create their own attractive works.  The possibilities are endless for earrings, pendants or cool thingymawhatchamacallits that are upcycled, repurposed, and assembled from old pocket watches, clocks and wristwatches.  All this will be taught using basic tools and materials that will be provided to all participants. Learn about the origins of today’s Steampunk movement as you’re sifting through the detritus of time machines.  Build jewelry using some of the thousands of parts from vintage watches, clocks and pocket watches provided by the instructor.  Every participant in this course will walk out with two pieces of wearable art to take home with them.
The instructor is a successful professional steampunk artist in her own right and will offer many proven techniques for how to best use basic tools and materials.  Her emphasis will combine both functional concerns and key design considerations.  There will be numerous hands-on tips on combining the materials.  Hers is a fun approach to Steampunking.

All supplies will be provided by the instructor.  Thousands of watch, pocket watch, clock parts, bits and pieces will be supplied.  Students will pay a $20.00 supply fee at the beginning of the course.

Optional items:  Students can bring in special watch/Pocket watch or small items if they want to transform or incorporate them with their pieces.
