Is it Beverly Hills? Is it the wrong side of the tracks? No! It’s Mr. Rogers Neighborhood! A magical neighborhood of vintage homes you create...each one different...each one showcasing something special. Each student will create 3-5 glass houses filled with vintage photos, embellishments, collaged and painted. They are then soldered and linked together to create an assemblage of homes--Mr. Rogers Neighborhood...or your own. Techniques will include collage, paint, transfer, solder, wire wrapping, and embellishing. You will learn some special tips, tricks and techniques to create many more neighborhoods on your own--and you’ll want to!
(NOTE: the finished project will be a series of 4-6" tall glass fronted houses--up to 1/2" thick-- with soldered edges, then all hinged together to form a zig-zag piece of art for the mantle-top. The houses are filled with vintage objects and can be decorated to look like a house or a house-shaped frame for other art.)
