Everyone has an old, outdated sweater hanging in their closet; you don't wear it, but you don't want to throw it away. Why not drag it out, shake off the dust, and transform it into a one-of-a-kind, ultra-stylish, brand new and ready to show off "altered" sweater. With some easy sewing and crochet techniques, you'll walk out of class with a new addition to your wardrobe that is a real attention-getter. You'll want to make dozens! Basic sewing and crochet knowledge is helpful, but don't worry, this can be learned in class.
Supply List: --Sweater: many different styles of sweaters can work: crew neck, “v” neck, turtle Neck (my fav.) or cardigan. Avoid very tightly knit sweaters ( you need to be able to poke a crochet hook through the knit) also very heavy cable-knit sweaters are hard to work with. You might want to bring two so you have a choice. --Fiber: furry or hairy art yarns work best, or ones with little added tufts of fiber like Fun Fur or Fun Fetti, for example. Make sure there is at least 60 yds. Or buy two. The color should coordinate with the sweater. --Fabric: two small scraps of two different cotton fabrics that coordinate with your sweater and fiber. --Tools: scissors, straight pins, a small metal crochet hook size 3, 4 or 5. We will also be using a sewing machine. Bring yours from home if it is convenient, otherwise some will be available to share.
Before class you might want to familiarize yourself with single crochet
Instructor will provide: Patterns, instructions, thread, button kit, some fibers
