Memory, sentimentality and the commonplace are our themes and inspiration.  Using my favorite recycled materials of cloth and metal, piece and glue this variety of materials into a wall hanging quilt or even a floor rug.  Make an artistic statement with the textures and color harmonies of fabrics, such as worn out clothing and household linens. (Sometimes I use swatches, clipped from the hem of a favorite jacket or skirt.)  Incorporate sentimental objects such as:  Family images, letters, appointment book pages, drawings and diary entries. Blend in those everyday objects about to be discarded (grocery lists, broken china, candy wrappers for example.)  We will manipulate materials and experiment with glues, starches, and lacing.  We will braid and make ruffles and even do some stitching.  We will study composition and patterns. The result: a work of personal meaning and complexity, which is also a visual bio.  NO sewing required.
