Unleash the gypsy passion in your soul! You will create your own individual journal about gypsy life and travels using different materials and techniques. We will work with fabric, paper, images and found objects to create collaged pages of both paper and fabric. You will learn different ways to age your paper as well as useful transfer and collage techniques. The book binding technique is a combination of a concertina spine binding and hinge binding – with a surprise hidden on the spine under the hinge binding. The journal itself has a limited number of pages which makes it easy to finish during the class.  Since every gypsy needs a tambourine, we will create a mini-version to be included in the journal – bells and all!  I will bring a variety of images, paper, and other supplies for all to use but feel free to bring your own materials and ephemera that you would like to include in the journal. There will be great stories of gypsy life and lore included with the class and you’ll also learn some gypsy spells. I see a journey in your future – just choose who you want to be and off we go! Supply List: --2 pieces of vintage fabric 7x9.5 for front covers --2 pieces of fabric 5x7.5 for end covers --4 pieces 10 x 7.5 of fabric --Fabric glue --Tacky glue --Paper glue (PVA) --Pencil --Scissors --Roll of Parchment paper --Embellishments --1” Foam Brush --½” Flat Brush Materials fee includes: --Book board and illustration board for covers --Watercolor paper to crate paper pages --Cardstock for spine --Dowel and buttons --Supplies to create tambourine --Bookbinding needle --Linen thread --Some embellishments and ephemera Instructor will provide:  a variety of paper, images, stamps including Gypsy stamps, Transfer pens, sprays, medium weight wonder under, ink pads, for you to use but feel free to bring your own materials and ephemera that you would like to include in the journal.
