I am fascinated by old portraits, in particular portraits from Latin America in the 18th and 19th century. There is an interesting and somewhat strange formality to them. Not long I started playing with images from portraits and combining them with assemblage. We will be playing with this concept and exploring how photographs and paintings can relate to weird and unexpected found objects. The result is a funky portrait unlike anything you've seen. It"s time to play with paint, glue, junk and ephemera. What could be better? Everyone will leave with at least one finished portrait. Say "cheese”! Supply List: Optional items: Tools like pliers, wire cutters, etc.; heat gun; Dremmel Instructor will provide: Power tools, wooden base for structure; extra paint and glue; a bunch of found objects and doodads.
