C108 - No Sew Textile Art Journal

$ 150

As much as I love making messes in my art journals, sometimes I want to make messes in something LUSCIOUS and fun! Sometimes your art deserves a special place and sometimes it’s just fun to work in three dimensions with your favorite colors, patterns and textures. Something I love about making my own journals is that I can translate my 2D art into something tangible that I can hold and enjoy. And this is definitely a book you can judge by the cover because your heART will be poured into the pages as well! In this class, we’ll start by making our own custom journals from an old book, our favorite fabrics, trims and special doodads (you know you have been hoarding those special doodads for a long time! Now’s the time to use them! Buttons, beads, doll parts, metal gears, feathers, etc!) Everyone’s books will look different because everyone has textures and colors they love and are drawn to. These techniques will work with any color palette or style. After we construct the book, we’ll have a chance to start some background pages as well! I’ll show you my favorite materials, techniques and how I go about getting over the “fear of the blank page” or the fear that we’ll somehow mess up our beautiful journals. These journals will be splattered and painted and collaged inside and are meant to get a little messy--it’s all part of the fun!
