$ 150

Learn how to create beautiful mixed media backgrounds using a variety of my favorite supplies and techniques to emphasize and highlight your focal image. You’ll also learn how to create gorgeous, layered, colorful collage art paper that you will add to your 3D shapes and make them jump off the canvas! We’ll have fun building up our backgrounds and collage paper with color and texture using a variety of media and techniques such as resists with oil pastels and spray inks, adding layers of color with acrylic paint, mark-making with paint pens, just to name a few! Then we’ll collage onto our 3D wood shapes to give them depth and dimension and bring them to life. We’ll find just the right spot for them on our canvas as we explore balance and space to create a dynamic composition!

Materials fee $20 paid to instructor at beginning of class includes

Unique collage paper pack filled with my favorite vintage, recycled and patterned papers, stabilo marks-all pencil, foam brush Use of shared materials: paint, spray inks, brushes, sponges, mark-making tools, tissue & collage paper, gelli plates, rollers, stamps, stencils, Mod Podge
Supplies Needed to bring  for Class:

*Two substrates (canvas, wood panel, Gessoboard, MDF board or canvas panel) (My samples are 6”x12? canvas & 8?x8? Gessoboard—think thin, lightweight and easy to pack!)
*Two large wood or chipboard shapes that fit your substrates (i.e., angel, princess, bird, tree, heart, etc. Something that will be a focal image, but not take up the whole surface. It’s okay if there’s paint or images on them, you’ll be painting/collaging over them. This is where I found the bird and girl outlines: https://www.etsy.com/shop/AIHConcepts or you can look at the wood crafts section at your local art store)
*Scissors

Optional items: If you have special stamps, stencils, paint or spray ink colors that you love, bring them but I will have plenty to share.
