This class is about incorporating the look of metals into abstract compositions. You will learn to prepare, and use, in an abstract painting, materials such as embossed aluminum foil, hammered wire, metallic glue gun shapes, rust paper, mirror paper, metallic paints, and metal embellishments. You will learn about texture techniques, proper supports, and methods of attachment for metal elements. Expect to create one or more paintings.

Materials Fee: $20 payable to Instructor at class time includes:

Modeling compound
Gel Medium, soft or regular
18 gauge Aluminum and copper wire
Iron paint and activator
Origami foil and candles
Metal leaf
Parchment paper
Selection of metal embellishments
Yes paste and/or E6000
Red rosin paper

Supply list students should bring:

Acrylic paints in your favorite colors – Carol uses (and strongly recommends) Golden Fluid Acrylics. Carol’s must have colors are Quinacridone Nickel Azo Gold, Turquoise Phthalo, Quinacridone Magenta, Carbon Black, and Titanium White

 Supports – 2-3 cradled wood or MDF panels in sizes 8x8, 10x10 or 8x10
  No larger sizes, PLEASE. Stretched canvas OK, but a solid wood
surface works best.
***Please gesso wood supports before class****

Heavy duty Reynolds aluminum foil
Glue gun and glue stick (if you have one, or we can share)
Selection of brushes, small palette knife, spray water bottle, paper
towels, scissors, palette for mixing colors, 32 oz water container.
