As artists we try to achieve color, unusual textures and patterns in our jewelry designs. This class has it all! You will learn how to make a necklace with a technique I call faux reticulation. The hills, valleys and swirls achieved with this process reminds me of a fresh lava flow. Everyone I’ve shared this technique with has marveled at the gorgeous, almost instantaneous results they get after trying it.
In this class you will learn how to use silver scraps to make amazing texture and patterns on a copper base, and how to add fantastic flame painted colors to your pieces. All this can be achieved using a propane torch or a small butane torch, known in cooking circles as a crème brulee torch. After you have designed and completed your focal piece, you will hang it from a sterling silver chain you will make yourself, to the length you desire.
All equipment, tools and materials are supplied in this class. There is nothing to bring!! See below for materials included in the kit and the kit fee.
All experience levels are welcome. Must be at least 17 years old. As we will be using torches, please tie back long hair, wear closed toe shoes, and do not wear loose flowing sleeves.
Kit Fee Payable to instructor at beginning of Class - $55 includes:
Sterling silver wire and scraps
