VA204 - Drip, Paint, Collage

$ 150

Let’s get messy as we explore fluid media on wood panels to create beautiful, abstract, vibrant works of art! I’ll show you my favorite techniques for using fluid media (fluid acrylics, paint pens, and acrylic inks) to create lively backgrounds full of color and texture. We’ll also explore adding collage layers as a way to tie the canvas together. I’ll show you how to create luscious, layered collage papers using all my favorite materials: oil pastels, spray inks, rubbing plates, gelli plate, stencils & acrylic paint. These will fit into our backgrounds and allow us to play with pushing and pulling layers and building up to our finished work of art.

Materials Fee & List of what is supplied: $20

• Collage Paper Pack filled with my favorite collage papers, vintage and new paper, tissue paper, collage images
• Shared use of paint, spray inks, oil pastels, texture plates, gelli plate, brayer, stamps, stencils and collage papers, acrylic inks, and fluid acrylics

Supplies Needed for Class:

• 6x9” and 8x8” wood panels/hardboard panel/Gessoboard (I don’t recommend canvas panels because of the rough texture. Sizes are just a suggestion. Find panels in a size you are comfortable with that is easy for packing and lightweight. I like thick panels, but the thin ones work just as well. Surface should be matte, not shiny/slick. Gesso any unfinished or slick surfaces ahead of time if possible
• 2-3 15mm (bold tip) paint pens (favorite brands are Sharpie water based and Liquitex)
• 2-3 2mm (fine or medium tip) paint pens
• Mod Podge or Matte medium

Optional items: If you have any special stamps, stencils, collage papers or images you’d like to use, bring them! But I will have plenty to share.
