Explore the many uses and techniques of this inexpensive and versatile new material for artists. What is Lutradur? Simply put, it’s the magic in the middle – a versatile cross between fabric and paper. It has the body of paper and the strength of fabric. The open, airy structure of Lutradur absorbs paint, ink, image transfers and more, to create a surface that filters light, yet has body and retains its shape. Lutradur is also thermoplastic, which means it changes when heated, producing the kind of organic and artistic effects fiber and mixed media artists love. It is an excellent surface to stitch, stamp, stencil, distress, embellish and more. Artists everywhere are continually finding new ways to craft art with Lutradur. In this class, based on her new book, Fabulous Fabric Art with Lutradur, Lesley will show you 27 techniques. You will get a chance for hands on exploration of many of these techniques as well as new discoveries Lesley has made since writing the book. This is a process oriented class for all skill levels that will introduce you to a variety of ways that Lutradur can be used in your mixed media, bookmaking, scrapbooking, quilting and more. It’s what you make it!
