3093 - The Treasure Within Altered Tin |

We will be altering a metal Band-Aid tin using our Patina Kit, rubber stamps, vintage hardware (or other goodies you’ve got hidden in that embellishment bin) and ribbon. Encased inside this beautiful treasure tin will be an altered Formica sample booklet that you will create using ephemera, your favorite quotes, charms, images, lace, tape transfers (will do small demo in class on tape transfers) and ribbon. Although I will have the tin prepared and ready for you to patina and alter I will demonstrate (outside) how to easily clean the paint off of tins you wish to alter. Supplies Needed for Class: Metal Band-Aid Tin (supplied by instructor) Formica Samples (supplied by instructor) Foam Brushes Sophisticated Finishes Patina Kit (be sure to get the Kit which includes the metal surfacer, patina solution and sealer) White Gesso Liquid Nails in Tube (clear) UHU Glue Stick or your preferred glue stick or Mod Podge (matte) Scissors Rubber Stamps (background stamps with handwriting work well as do stamps with more open designs) Fluid Chalk Inks in your preferred colors Ephemera/Scrapbook Papers/Sewing Patterns,etc. (teacher will have some items in class) Lace/Ribbon/Fabric Bits/Buttons/Old Keys/Charms (any thing you enjoy embellishing with) Images (if you have a special image you would like to use in a tape transfer be sure it is laser printed) Stayz On Ink Pads in Black and/or Timber Brown Number 10 Paintbrush – Don’t spend a lot of money here, just a cheap brush. Apron Small Hand Towel Optional items: Crop-A-Dile (Teacher will have one in class to use) Jump Ring Pliers (Teacher will have some tools in class) Wire for Attaching Items to Booklet Micro Glaze Rubber Gloves if you don’t like getting a bit messy Materials Fee Includes: Prepared Band-Aid Tin Formica Samples Baby-Wipes Contac Paper for Tape Transfers Plate for Paint Mixing Cups for Water Paper Towels Kandoo Soap for after class use
