We will be doing Polaroid Image and Emulsion Transfers from our own photos, collages, inkjet or laser prints, . We will use the Daylab CopySystem to project an image onto Polaroid Film, then manipulate in either style. The images will be transferred onto watercolor papers, silk or wood. This machine allows you to be more spontaneous--it's collage without glue, accomplished by layering different components. The Polaroid Image Transfer gives you an ethereal, dreamy, soft look, while the Polaroid Emulsion Transfer comes with its own attitude and wavy edges that you dictate. We will hand-tint our images with pencils and liquid dyes. You will fall in love with this magical and creative process, and at the end of the day have images to admire--ready to frame or use in a collage, altered book or journal. The transfer will be smaller than the original image, approximately 3.25”x 4.25”. This process does not hurt your original image. You will have an opportunity to make 7-10 images and additional film will be available to purchase. Class size is limited to 12 students to enable individual support.
Supply List: --Images: Bring 6-8 4”x5” or 4 “X6” images to use to make transfers. Bring ones to layer (inkjet or laser printed transparencies, thin tissue paper or vellum). This can include photographs, collages and inkjet or photocopied prints, magazine cutouts. I suggest bringing both color and black and white transparencies for different looks and layering. Transparency images of black line drawings are especially nice for layering. If you can, bring duplicate images so you can cut them apart to use segments. Your images should have good clarity and not be too dark. . If you have questions regarding your image choice, please email me at tbartog@yahoo.com or see my blog at http://artwhispers.typepad.com/artwhispers/ for more samples. --Black fine point Sharpie --ruler --scissors --pencil Optional supplies --Shallow non-shiny items to use for image making (for example: small figurines, coins, feathers, etc.) --Watch with a second hand --Rubberstamps and ink --Materials to collage --Lace for layering --Embellishments
